If you could instantly acquire a new skill, unrelated to recruitment or the legal field, what would it be and why?

It would have to be snowboarding, I love to ski and have always wanted to try to snowboard but haven’t had the time to learn from scratch.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the legal industry?

Interacting with legal professionals on a daily basis provides valuable opportunities to engage with experienced individuals who offer unique perspectives on the market. You can gain a deeper understanding of the distinct challenges and commonalities encountered by firms, and how these factors influence the overall market dynamics. Additionally, social media, blogs, and articles also serve as intriguing sources of insight into the legal landscape.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and how has it impacted your personal or professional life?

If you’re not first, you’re last… as silly as the reference is, I always find myself saying it. I think it just gets the competitive juices flowing and is somewhat of a self-motivator.

How do you approach building strong relationships with both clients and candidates?

Honesty and respect. To build the trust that is required to help someone going through a pivotal point in their career/getting a client the best fit needs a foundation of honesty. Having open communication, being able to manage expectations and deliver honest feedback is crucial.

How do you strike a balance between meeting the needs of our clients and ensuring a positive candidate experience?

Communication is key throughout the process, ensuring that from the outset, expectations are set and regular updates are given. Taking the time to engage with both parties in a personable manner is essential, everyone has different needs, being able to recognise this and adapt is crucial.

How do you support candidates throughout the interview and hiring process to help them feel prepared and confident?

I try to make to process as comfortable as possible for candidates, taking the time to prepare each individual for an interview and knowing exactly what the client is looking for in an interviewee helps this process.

Tell us about a book or movie that has greatly influenced your perspective on life or work.

As a golfer, I would have to say ‘golf is a game of confidence’ by Dr Bob Rotella – it shows the importance of thinking confidently and not only how much it can change your game, but also your life.

Describe your perfect weekend getaway.

It would have to be a city break to Europe, getting stuck in to the local culture, food and drink.
