Cloud Engineer – Azure

Cloud Engineer needed to join a leading utilities company as they continue on their Digital IT journey, providing award winning customer care to over a million people.

The Cloud Engineer will have a strong foundation in the implementation, support and delivery of software solutions, infrastructure (IaaS) and platforms (PaaS) within the Microsoft Azure Cloud Landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Azure Cloud subject matter expert for the IT operations and PMO teams supporting Cloud incidents
• Liaising with internal customers to define functional and non-functional software designs / specifications for new or existing software solutions and infrastructure within the Cloud
• Engaging with internal customers/third parties to ensure the software solutions and infrastructure continuously meets business requirements
• Having a structured approach to solution delivery ensuring adherence to architecture standards, source code management and creation of technical documentation
• Building out Azure infrastructure designs using Azure automation and transition to manged service provider
• Designing and implementation of support service and operating model of new or existing software solutions and infrastructure within the Cloud.

Essential Criteria: 

• Good understanding of Cloud technologies including fundamental characteristics of cloud and cloud-native design fundamentals
• A strong understanding of security concerns around Cloud and a willingness to develop Azure infrastructure solutions which are secure by design
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Azure technology stack and low-level design of cloud native applications supported by Azure IaaS and PaaS infrastructure
• Good hands-on experience in architecting, implementing consumer scale, geo redundant applications and platforms on the Microsoft Azure technology stack
• Excellent scripting experience with any modern scripting language
