Employment Lawyer

The Job:

Our client is looking for an Employment lawyer to join their team in Belfast, to focus predominantly contentious and non-contentious Employment law matters.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate level candidate to make their next career step and join the team as the ‘go to’ for employment law. The role will involve opportunities to grow the practice and secure new clients, as well as contribute to internal and client training and thought leadership content.

Our client provides expert advice on professional negligence matters within financial services, construction (architects, engineers, and quantity surveyors), healthcare (medical facilities and professionals), real estate and insurance (brokers) and employment law.

Cases

• Employment claims ranging in value and complexity covering the full range of employment disputes. The vast majority are litigated in the employment tribunal although we also act in civil claims
• Non contentious advisory matters ranging from day-to-day ad hoc advice to client HR teams and contract and policy drafting, to complex TUPE and collective redundancy situations
• Providing coverage and claims defence to both international and domestic insurers and their insureds
• In particular, we advise on professional liability, financial institutions’ liability, directors & officers liability.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will be able to take conduct of files with little supervision, working collaboratively as part of an expanding team, and proactively developing client relationships to build the employment law practice in Belfast.

We are very interested in speaking to candidates who are Northern Irish qualified with relevant employment law experience, whether currently based in Belfast or looking to relocate to Belfast.

Our client has adopted a hybrid working policy, which offers a good mix of opportunities for working from home and in the office.

Required experience

• 3-7+ years’ Northern Irish qualified lawyer with Employment law experience*
• To be proactive and take initiative
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to manage own time, excellent organisation skills
• Strong technical and research skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to manage a busy caseload of low to medium value claims and to work with senior solicitors on high value claims.
