10 August, 2022Our client is seeking to recruit a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor. Reporting to the Health Safety & Environmental Manager, and as a member of the wider Engineering team, your role will be to provide HSE support and advice across the business. The role will provide support to the (FDM) team and Senior Management team (SMT) enabling effective implementation of the Health, Safety and Environmental Management systems and ensuring all statutory legal obligations are met across the business.
Responsibilities:
As part of the HSE team, ensuring that employees and appointed contractors are compliant with Health and Safety Legislation and companies HSE policies and procedures including contractual requirements. This will include significant liaison with companies appointed construction contractor, Kier Utilities. The HSE team will also provide guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters to the company’s management team and employees.
The monitoring and preparation of monthly health, safety and environmental performance reports for senior management and collating all health, safety, and environmental metrics.
Implementing and maintaining the company HSE management systems which are accredited to ISO 45001 and ISO14001.
Conducting internal management system audits and HSEQ inspections (to sample if policies and procedures are being properly implemented).
Assisting in the preparation and management of the Engineering training, learning and development plan.
Preparation of incident investigations and near miss reports.
Conducting and reviewing of risk assessments
Participation in a wide range of HSE risk management initiatives including liaison with key internal and external stakeholders within the natural gas industry with respect to risk management, energy transition projects and emergency planning
The Individual:
The successful candidate will have experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role and have a proactive and an enthusiastic approach towards safety, coupled with a commitment to strive for continual improvement in Health, Safety and Environmental management.
Knowledge/Skills & Experience:
Essential
3 years’ experience within a Health, Safety and Environmental role
Educated to degree level or holds equivalent professional development qualifications. In absence of these, relevant HSE work experience will be considered
NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent)
Experience of implementing and managing HSE management systems accredited to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
A proactive and enthusiastic approach towards safety and environmental management
Excellent communication, IT and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider engineering team
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Experience or background in a construction or utilities related industry
A sound understanding of the operational risks relevant to a Gas Distribution Network Operator
Knowledge of specific gas related legal requirements relevant to firmus energy
Depending on the level of existing qualifications and/ or experience a HSE professional development plan will be provided for this role.
