IT Security Specialist

IT Security Specialist needed to join a leading utilities company as they continue on their IT roadmap journey, providing award winning customer care to over a million people. The Security Specialist will be responsible for supporting and contributing to the evolution of IT Security within the organisation. Possessing a strong background in IT Security Operations which will complement the existing IT Security team.

The successful candidate will provide a combination of technical depth with outstanding interpersonal skills and be highly confident in engaging and influencing at all levels whilst driving for results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participating in the development of future security technology.
• Contributing to the development of IT Security operational process innovation.
• Coordinating penetration and remediation programme via 3rd party security consultants
• Overseeing vulnerability patch management activities
• Supporting in regular IT Security risk assessments and audits

Essential Criteria: 

• Security Operations experience in at least four of the following e.g.

–          Vulnerability Assessment

–          Patch Management,

–          Firewalls,

–          Web/Email Filtering,

–          VPN’s,

–          Encryption,

–          Anti-Virus,

–          Mobile Device Management,

–          Multi-Factor Authentication,

–          SIEM,

–          Active Directory/Group Policy

• Solid technical understanding of Secure Web App principles e.g., OWASP Top 10 or SANs 25.
• Solid technical understanding of Network infrastructure and protocols e.g., DMZ, Cloud, TCP / IP etc.
• Solid technical understanding of Microsoft Office 365 / Azure Security Centre
• Solid technical understanding of IT Security threats, trends and how they can be mitigated by technical security controls or processes.
