Abacus are currently assisting a reputable UK law firm’s Belfast practice with the recruitment of a legal secretary who will mainly manage litigation files (personal injury). Our client is a leading provider of legal and claims solutions within the insurance sector (100,000+ annual cases).

A Legal Secretary with experience in litigation matters will be required to work this role. You will be offered an excellent working environment, friendly staff, and in an area that is easily accessible by public transport or car. 

The role:

The legal secretary will take charge of a caseload of litigation files throughout all stages of the process. Typically, but not exhaustively, your remit will involve workaround:

  • Managing documentation to include scanning and printing of documents, e-filing and updating of fee earner files
  • General administration to include Mimecast, diary planning, booking meetings, emails and opening and closing files
  • Adhering to all manual and electronic filing systems
  • Contacting Counsel, solicitors and other parties on behalf of clients
  • Dealing with telephone calls and assisting clients
  • Researching and summarising legal information
  • Preparing trial bundles and briefs for Counsel
  • Issuing correspondence
  • Transcribing from digital dictation
  • Assisting relevant fee earners in the conduct of files as required
  • Preparing legal documents for issue with the Court office
  • Billing

All about you:

  • Previous Litigation Legal Secretary experience – 2+ years ideally
  • Personal Injury experience is highly desirable 
  • Excellent typing skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Highly organised and an ability to prioritise work independently
  • Professional and friendly demeanour
  • Digital case management experience
