Abacus are very pleased to be working with a long-established family owned business that currently have a vacancy for a full time, permanent role as a Management Accountant to work across the group of companies. We are looking for a committed individual with relevant experience who wishes to develop their role as part of a small but busy accounts team.  Personality will be key in this appointment, we are seeking a team player, someone who wants to take on responsibility and learn.  This is an ideal role for a recently qualified accountant to work with a really experienced and progressive FC.  This is the type of position that makes your career and sets you up for the ‘Big Job’ in finance in 3-4 years.


Summary of Role – To process and manage all accounts tasks including accounts payable, receivable and payroll. To compile and provide accurate and timely financial information to the FC in accordance with UK GAAP in the form of regular reports and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:


· Prepare, manage and complete accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual accounts information for all businesses

· Prepare consolidated statements

· Provide monthly sales variance analysis and provide commentary on anomalies and performance

· Maintain, develop and enhance SAP optimisation within the business continuing to build relationships with various IT partners

· Review quarterly VAT returns prepared by assistant accountant and prepare for inspections

· Review and help maintain fixed asset records including depreciation and disposals

· Manage nominal ledger journals

· Produce budgets and forecasts as requested

· Identify and recommend continual improvement of processes

· Process Companies House, CRO and National Statistics returns

· Support and assist in Annual Financial audit

· Provide accurate data analysis and reports as requested by the Financial Controller

· Control of Purchase and Sales Ledger ensuring accounts are settled in a timely manner

· Process/oversee Payroll including wages, salaries, Pension, PAYE and P45, P60 and P11D returns

· Manage and keep up to date with all Customs literature related to business transactions

· Build upon internal and external stakeholder relationships




Key Requirements of Role:


· ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified

· Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload



· Working knowledge of an ERP system


The hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 08:00am to 3:30pm on Friday (39 hours) and on-site car parking is available.

The Company also provides Private Health Care, 31 days annual leave and a 5% pension contribution.
