The Company:

Our client is a well established & leading law firm who is looking to appoint a senior marketing professional to lead the business forward by implement marketing & business development plans. As part of an award winning company, you will get autonomy to drive the strategy of the markting team and align it to the business strategy which will help deliver exciting projects and raise the company profile.

The Role:

You will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing and business development plans on a firm wide basis and across sectoral and business teams. You will manage media relations in conjunction with a PR Agency, events and hospitality, brand management, stakeholder engagement, sponsorship management, digital marketing and internal communications.

You will create and implement firm wide and practice area specific marketing campaigns. Research, analyse and provide feedback on campaigns for evaluation and reporting, as well as updating online materials and managing digital campaigns. Create regular Social Media campaigns using video, copy writing and interaction with colleagues across the firm.

You will have regular contact with Partners and lawyers, the firm’s third party design agencies and legal directory researchers. We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to business development at a strategic level, provide ideas and suggestions with an enthusiastic attitude and the ability to build rapport and work closely with Partners on a daily basis.

This role requires solid experience delivering on projects and managing the implementation and reporting of marketing tactics. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing people, processes and projects within the marketing team, and progressing marketing and business development plans and objectives by proactively contributing to the budgets and assisting with resource planning.

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious, commercially astute individual, who enjoys a challenge, has a clear understanding of business development and thrives on a high level of responsibility in their work.

Main roles and responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Senior Partner and Heads of Teams to create marketing and business development plans for the firm and each practice area, monitoring the implementation and reporting on activity of those plans.
  • Assisting with the bids and proposal process – including collating research; working with the proposal team and assisting with tender documents
  • Manage the firm’s processes for legal directories, including providing guidance on best practice
  • Hold an interest in the wider activities of the firm and demonstrate commercial awareness.
  • Expand, develop, and manage the firm’s social media presence across all relevant platforms to improve the firm’s profile and drive traffic to the website.
  • Event management from invitation, through to on the day execution and completion.
  • Oversee the production of podcasts and webinars from inception to broadcast.
  • Supervise and oversee the creation and production of marketing materials, such as brochures, client guides, team packs, contact sheets, newsletters, tenders, etc.
  • Developing content strategy for specific areas, identify key audiences, define messaging, support the production content including PR, blogs, news, videos, podcasts etc.
  • Using analytics data to understand the effectiveness of our engagement, identify and introduce improvements.
  • Creating and managing virtual and in-person events – sometimes in collaboration with partner organisations – for target audiences
  • Deliver creative campaigns and novel forms of engagement both internally and externally e.g. polls, hero content etc.
  • Managing third party consultants and agencies including management of budgets.
  • Monitoring the overall competitive landscape and target markets to identify and secure new collaborations and partnerships.
  • Progress issues proactively, meet deadlines and provide updates to colleagues where necessary.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with teams across the business to ensure a high level of service.
  • Have excellent IT skills and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, online event portals as well as demonstrable experience of Mailchimp and SurveyMonkey.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Effectively and constructively manage performance by giving timely and constructive feedback to encourage personal and career development of team members.
  • Be aware of their own strengths and development needs and seek out opportunities to build and address these.

The Person:

  • Possess a 3rd level qualification in Marketing or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years’ experience operating at a senior level ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Have at least 3 years’ team management experience.
  • Able to demonstrate clear leadership, a passion and enthusiasm for marketing and business development and a desire to work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive engagement and awareness of the firm.
  • You will have demonstrable experience managing marketing campaigns across multiple channels including digital content and distribution, social media, PR, sponsorship (team and events) and brand management.
  • Be a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. You will be knowledgeable in the commercial benefits of marketing and understand how to analyse ROI of marketing activity.
  • Proven experience working on simultaneous marketing projects meeting tight deadlines, as well as excellent organisation skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working as a team player in a fast paced environment.
