Responsibilities:

Lead and develop operational teams including Production, Scheduling, Logistics, Warehousing, Health & Safety and Quality to ensure that they are appropriate and support business growth.

Ensure that employees have the best possible working conditions, through the development of HS&E systems and policies to prevent unreasonable health and safety risks.

Promote, develop and ensure compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System to include safety, environmental and quality requirements as the norm across all team members whilst promoting a culture of standardised work.

Oversee daily manufacturing activities with a focus on quality assurance and control, ensuring adherence to company high standards.

Create, develop and ensure accountability for departmental key performance indicators, tactical plans and departmental projects to ensure company strategic goals are achieved including reporting on these to the board.

Identify ways to improve the profitability through innovation, productivity, waste reduction and continuous improvement whilst delivering best-in-industry levels of performance.

Lead all relevant departmental communication forums, encouraging two-way communication, and ensure company information is communicated effectively throughout all team members.

Liaise with wider business units to ensure operations are meeting customer, supplier and employee expectations.

Champion effective employee relations whilst demonstrating a flexible management style, adopting the appropriate style for the given situation.

Attract, retain and build high performing teams and promote SAM as the company of choice.

All other duties as required.

 

Essential Criteria:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an operations management position in a fast-paced environment.

Working knowledge of operations including ISO, TOC, continuous improvement and project management.

You must be flexible with regards your working hours in order to support a 24/7 shift pattern and be able to travel outside of Northern Ireland if required.

 

Desirable Criteria:

Minimum of 2:2 qualification in a Business, Engineering, Management or equivalent discipline.

NEBOSH or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.

Leading and delivering multiple projects on time, in full and within budget.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an equivalent director position having responsibility for 100+ employees in a fast paced, manufacturing environment
