Paralegal – Insurance Litigation

A leading defense litigation firm servicing major insurance clients is pleased to announce exciting opportunities for recent graduates and prospective IPLS candidates to undertake a Paralegal Graduate Job in our Belfast office. You will assist qualified solicitors within our busy defense litigation team.

We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience, and we provide customized, in-house training to kick-start your legal career after completing your university studies. This opportunity is particularly suitable for those looking to progress to training and qualification with the IPLS.

As a Paralegal Graduate, your initial workload will consist of the following essential tasks, which serve as building blocks for independent file management post-qualification:

• Progressing discovery matters by drafting the appropriate pleadings and thoroughly reviewing all discoverable material.
• Conducting legal research, reviewing evolving case law, and understanding procedural nuances related to certain claims.
• Assisting with investigation matters by taking both informal and formal statements from witnesses.
• Participating in trial preparation, including compiling trial bundles and assisting clients and witnesses in preparing to testify at trial.
• Compiling in-depth analyses of quantum evidence, which includes preparing chronologies and identifying anomalies across various sources of evidence, such as hospital and GP notes and medico-legal reports, to assist the lead file handler with reserves calculations.
• Instructing Counsel and medico-legal experts by compiling briefs and letters of instruction.
