Summary
A Project Engineer within manufacturing plays a crucial role in the development, implementation, and management of various projects related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems. The person in this role project’s responsible for ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and meet the required quality standards. The Project Engineer works with cross-functional teams, including design, production, maintenance, and management, to successfully execute projects and optimize manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates. Coordinate and communicate with team members, contractors, and suppliers involved in the project.
Process Improvement: Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and cost reduction. Propose and implement process enhancements, automation, and technology upgrades to optimize productivity.
Equipment and Facility Upgrades: Evaluate manufacturing equipment and identify potential upgrades or replacements to enhance performance and capacity. Manage the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and systems.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure manufacturing processes comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines. Develop and implement quality control measures to maintain product consistency and meet customer requirements.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify project risks and develop contingency plans to address potential issues. Proactively monitor project progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Budget and Cost Management: Prepare project budgets and monitor expenses to ensure adherence to allocated funds. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, progress reports, and technical specifications. Provide regular updates and reports to management on project status, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Leadership and Collaboration: Lead cross-functional project teams and foster a collaborative work environment. Motivate team members to achieve project goals and overcome challenges.
Experience Level & Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Manufacturing Engineering within the heavy machinery/material handling industry.
Good knowledge in computer programs such as MS Office
Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing methods in an assembly environment
Design for Manufacture experience
Experience using AutoCAD and 3D CAD software
Experience working in a project’s environment and meeting deadlines
Strong presentation skills.
