Abacus is working with a leading organisation to recruit a Senior Project Manager to join a high-performing change and transformation function. This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to drive large-scale programmes and shape strategic delivery across the business. You will offer strong leadership and people management capabilities and have the blend to manage strategic projects and programmes and inspire and manage people in a challenge-driven environment.
Role Summary
You will take ownership of a portfolio of programmes and projects, leading delivery from concept through to implementation. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading complex programmes aligned to strategic objectives, ensuring delivery of agreed outcomes, costs and benefits
- Managing and developing a team delivering multiple projects and support activities. This will include a mix of tech and consultancy projects e.g. cloud, GenAI, Agentic AI, digital transformation, data, analytics, software engineering, Mobile, automation, robotics and customer-facing services.
- Offer strategic and operational experience to plan and coordinate multiple workstreams from initial proof-of-concept through to execution.
- Driving collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, many internal and some external
- Identifying and resolving risks, challenges and blockers to ensure successful delivery
- Embedding strong governance, change management and delivery frameworks.
The Person
We’re keen to speak with PM professionals who:
- Offer experience delivering complex projects and programmes, ideally from a Financial Services, Fintech or tech sector
- Demonstrate experience of all key project life cycle
- Have strong technical experience and PM methodology e.g. agile, waterfall, scrum
- Show experience of implementing successful AI-related projects and initiatives is of strong interest
- Hold a recognised project management qualification
- Present strong leadership experience, with the ability to coach, direct and develop teams
- Have experience in change management and working within regulated or complex environments (desirable).
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Is a confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels with charisma, be able to influence and persuade and help people see the bigger picture
- Be resilient to deal with complex projects within and challenging-driven and fast-paced environment and be able to apply rationale behind decisions.
