Abacus is delighted to be working with a ‘People First’ organisation with more than 50 years’ experience managing and resolving a huge number of insurance claims per year, on the recruitment of a ‘Solicitor’ for their Belfast office.

What you need to succeed:


  • 2 to 4 years PQE Litigation experience within the Northern Ireland jurisdiction, managing own caseload to include Defence Motor and Credit Hire content


You will need to be a Team Player with excellent communication and forensic skills, as well as being able to manage a competitive workload and meet strict deadlines whilst under significant pressure.

You will be provided with the right technology to help create bespoke solutions for your Clients, matching their requirements in terms of quality, performance and value for money.


Your new role as Solicitor:


Reporting to a Partner, you will handle a varied caseload of litigated Motor Injury, Fraud and Credit Hire cases within the County Court jurisdiction in Northern Ireland, creating initial case strategy following guidelines provided by the Client, ensuring compliance with the LSNI guidelines. Typical responsibilities will include:


  • Pursue the settlement of cases with Insured, Insurer and Third Party Solicitors
  • Attend Court Hearings, ensuring actions have been completed and progress is maximised
  • Provide written updates to Clients outlining up to date and accurate information regarding case activity when requested
  • Case management, updating records as required to meet ISO 9001 guidelines as well as carrying out periodic reviews of files in line with Client requirements and Lexcel standards
  • Exceed agreed performance targets


Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with 1 hour unpaid for lunch (35 hours per week), however, the Fee Earner will be expected to work additional hours if necessary to facilitate the needs of the business.
