The Role

The Technical Administrator will ensure engineering activities are planned, programmed and reported on in a timely and efficient manner. This is a varied role and will provide support across the engineering function, including Health, Safety & Environment, Operations & Maintenance and Construction. The role will be pivotal in developing reporting systems and ensuring that activities are carried out in line with industry best practice, engineering policy and regulatory targets. The Technical Administrator will work closely with engineering personnel to assist in the ongoing development of internal systems to support policies, processes and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the construction team in the roll out of the network, preparing packages of work and liaison with external partners on planned and completed work reporting, including domestic connections
  • Ensuring site inspections are completed in line with schedules and that results are compiled and reported via internal monthly reports and the monthly forum
  • Support the O&M team in the compilation of monthly reports, planning of works and the return of ‘as-laid’ records from our contractors
  • Completion of internal audits in relation to engineering procedures
  • Close liaison with engineering personnel to maintain the Engineering Risk Register ensuring the continuous improvement and line of sight mandated by ISO accreditations
  • The administration and analysis of key organisational and network related Safety, Quality and Environmental data including incidents, HazCons, inspections, audits. Providing administrative support and involvement in key internal and external HSE forums and working groups
  • Facilitation of the HSE training plan delivery, to include liaising with training providers, trainees and management of all subsequent training records and analysis reports
  • Act as a point of contact for planned network commissioning activities, issuing authority to proceed in line with instruction from the network controller

The Person:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an engineering related discipline or technical administration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written IT skills, in particular with MS software including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with GIS systems and their application within utility organisations
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise workload, in addition to being a team player
