Trainee Commercial Account Handler – Newry

ATTENTION SCHOOL LEAVERS!!- A great entry-level opportunity has arisen for an individual with the drive to learn about the Insurance Industry based in our client’s Newry office.

The Role:

Abacus Careers are pleased to be recruiting for a Trainee Commercial Accounts Handler on behalf of a local industry leading Insurance Brokerage. Our client has a long serving relationship with the local community are an exciting and dynamic business with office with the view for growth this year. They are committed to providing quality insurance solutions and are looking for keen individuals with a drive to learn.

What you will do:

  • Respond to enquiries from clients, colleagues and underwriters and ensure all information required by clients or underwriters are obtained and communicated.
  • Identify client’s requirements and provide quotations to fulfil their needs.
  • Using this information, determine which insurers will provide the most competitive rates for the cover required and communicate this to clients advising of the most appropriate in terms of price and cover.
  • Discuss “additional” covers to ensure all insurance requirements are satisfied.
  • Create, update and maintain client files with the highest level of accuracy as you will be responsible for making mid-term adjustments to policies such as change of address, vehicle or personal details – with help from senior colleagues.
  • Issue invoices and policy documents via mail and email.
  • Action renewals for clients in a timely manner

About you:

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! However you must have GCSE’s A-C and above including Maths and English.

You will also have an understanding of working towards targets, and will be self-motivated with the passion and enthusiasm to learn and develop and be competent in IT. It is also essential that you have good interpersonal skills to ensure a quality customer service. It would be desirable if:

  • You had the ability to sell and close a sale
  • You work well in a busy environment and be competent in managing workloads especially when under pressure both individually and as part of a team.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
