Trick or Treat
09 November 2022 by Emma Coulter
October brings the start of darker evenings, and colder weather, but it’s not all doom and gloom.. October also brings autumn leaves, Halloween celebrations, and of course, a themed month for Abacus employees!
Catherine and I wanted to bring some fun to the Abacus team, so we came up with some initiatives to get us moving and socialising.
Our overall challenge for October was a steps challenge, although, as it was the month of Halloween it was a steps challenge with a twist…
Every week the top steppers got a chance to spin the wheel and were in with a chance to win a prize.
BUT the wheel was a Trick or Treat wheel, so the unlucky few ended up with tricks instead of treats.
The tricks included being the office coffee maker, bin emptier, office cleaner, and doing 10 press-ups!
Walk and Talks
We kicked off our month with our favourite ‘walk and talks’. In pairs, we chatted with colleagues on a walk around Belfast. These are great to get us moving, connecting with friends, and getting our steps in for the day!
Quiz and Pizza
Our very own Catherine Foy was the Quizmaster in our very competitive Abacus quiz. Rounds included music, sports, geography, and for the brave few we even had a Mastermind round.
The winner of Mastermind was Ross, who scored 8/10 in his specialist subject of golf Masters winners!
Belfast Chamber Awards Night
The Abacus team enjoyed being wined and dined at the Belfast Chamber awards night at the Crowne Plaza. Although we were not overall winners, we are so proud to be finalists in the Team of the Year category for our Wellbeing Team.
Wellbeing Morning
We finished the month off with our Wellbeing morning which included a Wellbeing presentation and workshop from Catherine Foy, and a lovely cooked breakfast made by some of the team.
