Governance & Compliance Manager

Abacus Careers are pleased to be recruiting for a Governance & Compliance Manager on behalf of a leading Pensions’ provider in their Belfast Office. The client, currently providing schemes for over 5,000 employers and over 10,000 employees has been operating for over 40 years’ and has a unique approach to their success – building on strong foundations of expertise and developing long-lasting relationships.

We are looking for an experienced governance professional to provide the highest level of governance and compliance advice to our client. You will be confident in drafting and reviewing policies and procedures and ensuring compliance in line with these.

The role requires a keen eye for detail and knowledge of the governance requirements in pension schemes. Your resourcefulness, communication and planning skills and experience will help you to anticipate challenges and suggest and deliver solutions.

Salary

Negotiable (dependant on experience) alongside a remuneration package including a minimum 11% pension contribution (employer/employee).

Key elements of the role

  • To draft, edit and communicate guidance, procedures and policies.
  • To lead risk management including reviewing and updating the risk register.
  • To lead the annual Master Trust Assurance audit.
  • To ensure adherence to governance and compliance requirements and to provide guidance to the Trustee Board.
  • To provide a secretariat function to the company Sub-Committees, including liaising with committee members and managing the timely preparation of agendas, action points and minutes arising from each meeting.

Experience required:

  • Extensive experience gained in the pensions industry, working in, for example trusteeship/legal and/or pension consultancy practices.
  • Possess good organisation skills and the ability to prioritise work according to urgency and importance.
  • Have effective analytical/ problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience of drafting and reviewing policies/ procedures in line with guidance/legislation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
