Procurement Solicitor – High Class Practice – Permanent.

Abacus has been appointed by a leading Practice in Belfast who wish to add another Procurement Solicitor to join their established and growing team. This team operates within a highly regulated, quick-paced and occasionally complex arena.

Many of their clients recognise the high value of tenders and the heavy financial investment and resource intensity. It is also quite time absorbing and potentially risky in terms of legal disputes. That’s where this team provides expertise; providing distilled advice wrapped around the specific demands of each client, which helps the client reduce cost and risk during the procurement process.

To join this team, you will offer procurement law experience gained in a practice background. The level of PQE is reasonably open but you will be familiar with the key aspects of procurement law and offer great insight across a range of sectors with expert knowledge of procurement. You will be able to offer speedy and precise advice which reflects the challenges clients are challenged by. You will be able to grasp the compliance and risks of procurement law and work with clients to ensure bids are properly assessed. The team will also provide – mainly for public sector clients – guidance on procurement strategy and risk exposure. They will also support bidders to maximise their success probability, develop bid strategy and support bidders to respond to process errors or overcome legal challenges.

You will have experience of working with local and central government, education, energy, housing, construction/infrastructure and IT; plus bidders for public procurement contracts. You should also offer knowledge and experience to help clients understand risks, guide them on the compliant process and handle and oversee procurement disputes. However, most of the work demand will be non-contentious.
