We are looking for a graduate for this trainee opportunity as a Financial Controls Auditor to join this busy team, based in Belfast, on a permanent full-time basis. Travel is required throughout NI, therefore applicants must hold a full driver’s license.

Who we are looking for…

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Full Driving License
  • Ability to work on own initiative, with strong people skills
  • Prioritization and organizational skills
  • Training in or experience in using Microsoft Office package

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience within the retail/wholesale industry or a fast-paced commercial business
  • Strong proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities of the Financial Controls Auditor

The role will support the business to protect company resources by achieving full compliance with SOP’s and other external (regulatory/legal) compliance requirements, and also provide assurance to the divisional board that key controls are in place and operating in a satisfactory manner across the business.

  • Assist in the development and rollout of agreed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and controls across the business to ensure risk is appropriately managed
  • On-going review and updating of SOPs and controls
  • Assist the Internal Control Manager with the development and implementation of appropriate audit processes, ensuring the business is compliant with all internal and external compliance requirements including SOPs, legal, regulatory and group policies
  • Carry out audits across the business
  • Co-ordination and management of the reporting of issues arising
  • Assist the Internal Control Manager in the preparation and presentation of reports as required
  • Work with HR and Operations to ensure store colleagues are fully trained in all areas of compliance and accurate, up to date records are maintained 
  • Monitoring of cash balances to ensure agreed limits are adhered to and insurance limits are not breached
  • Assist various teams to ensure the delivery of financial KPIs (e.g., cash overs/shorts, waste, reductions, shrink/stock loss)
