Role purpose

The Specialist is an integral part of the Global Mobility team. They will support and manage the firm’s growing diverse expat population in an increasingly complex international environment.

Role and responsibilities

The Specialist role is critical for the Global Mobility team as it contributes fully to the effective and efficient delivery of its day-to-day global operations. It carries a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Understand and apply the firm’s global relocation policies and ensure their consistent and equitable application worldwide;
  • Act as single point of contact for allocated international moves including briefing employee / new hire on the firm’s procedures and policies, instruct and liaise with third party vendors to manage the logistical relocation support such as home search; school search; temporary housing, shipping, immigration assistance; international medical, etc;
  • Act as trusted advisor to the Global mobility HR professionals along with Partners and lawyers on Global Mobility policies and best practice;
  • Monitor employees on assignment and lead discussions with HR managers/Partners to extend, localise or repatriate individuals as their assignment is nearing completion;
  • Work closely with the Expat Tax Manager to manage tax and social security implications of assignments and ensure total compliance. This also includes preparing cost projections, A1 applications and certificates of coverage;
  • Ensure compliance with UK immigration legislation including keeping up to date with new UK legislation, ensuring internal audits are executed correctly;
  • Assist the Global Mobility team prepare for various internal and external meetings including regular catch-ups with the wider global HR team;
  • Liaise with Home & Host Payroll/HR teams to ensure the tax and payroll aspects of international assignments are in line with mobility policies and local tax requirements. This includes, but not limited to shadow payroll, tax equalisation payment and pension management;
  • Liaise with Home & Host Reward/HR teams to ensure the enrolment of assignees to the appropriate medical and pension plan, in line with the applicable mobility policy.
  • Manage projects such as bi-annual review of assignment allowances, salary review and the junior development programmes;
  • Support, as and when required, the internal team of experts who manage the TOW population;
  • Ensure the team’s internal documentation, check lists are up to date at all times;
  • Support standard and ad-hoc reporting requests;
  • Actively keep up to date with Global Mobility trends and best practices and proactively make recommendations to enhance existing programmes;
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required including Global Mobility webinars and conferences for networking and developmental purposes.

Knowledge

  • Desirable to have experience in Global Mobility and UK immigration;
  • Be detailed and accurate;
  • Have strong customer service skills;
  • Be able to work and compile data and reports;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel;
  • Have strong organisational, grammar and communication skills;
  • Advantageous to have experience with PeopleSoft.
