Making a Difference in Our Community

Making a Difference in Our Community

14 December 2023 by Justin Rush

As we bid farewell to 2023, we take pride in reflecting on the meaningful contributions and positive impact Abacus Careers has had through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These endeavours have allowed us to extend a helping hand and make a difference in various aspects of our community.

Mary’s Meals – Nourishing Lives in Rural Liberia:

Since 2021, Abacus Careers has been dedicated to supporting Mary’s Meals mission to eradicate hunger. Our monthly financial contributions have played a pivotal role in providing the food that ensures over 230 children, who attend school in rural Liberia receive the nutrition they need to thrive each day.

Young Enterprise – Business Backers Programme:

We actively participated in the Business Backers Programme by Young Enterprise, assisting 120 local school children in developing essential business skills. As advocates for professional growth, Abacus Careers believes in the transformative power of investing in the next generation. The Business Backers Programme provided a platform for us to engage meaningfully with our local community, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mentorship that goes beyond the boundaries of the workplace.

Sports Team Sponsorship:

Abacus Careers proudly supported sports teams, fostering the growth of local talent and community spirit. We contributed to Rathmore Grammar School’s Girls Camogie & Gaelic Football teams, as well as sponsored basketball teams of all age groups at Belfast Phoenix BC.

Foodstock – Supporting families during the cost of living crisis:

Our commitment to our community’s well-being extends to supporting Foodstock, a local food bank that serves more than 450 families in Belfast. By contributing to this initiative, we aim to alleviate financial pressures on families and strengthen the bonds within our community.

University of Ulster Student Awards Programme:

We believe in nurturing future talent, and our support for the University of Ulster Student Awards Programme underscores our commitment to empowering and recognising the potential of the next generation.

‘Employee of the Year Award’ at Belfast Chambers Business Awards 2023

In recognition of outstanding contributions to the business community, Abacus Careers proudly sponsored the ‘Employee of the Year’ award at the Belfast Chambers Business Awards 2023. This initiative highlights our dedication to acknowledging and celebrating excellence in the workplace.

Supporting LawCare Northern Ireland:

LawCare are a mental health and wellbeing charity that support those pursuing a career in the legal sector. Abacus are proud to be an advocate and supporter of this recently established organisation.

Client and staff initiatives:

Whenever we can we will support our staff and clients in their fundraising efforts. Whether it is a sponsored run, a charity quiz or office tea morning, we will always do our level best to support worthy causes.

As we embrace the festive season and look forward to the new year, we extend our gratitude to everyone who has been a part of these impactful initiatives. Abacus Careers remains committed to creating positive change and contributing to the well-being of our community.
