IQEQ Open Evening Success

IQEQ Open Evening Success

03 October 2019 by Justin Rush

On the evening of 2nd October the team from Abacus Careers held an open evening for IQ-EQ at Simply Coffee on Howard Street, Belfast City Centre.  The event was a great success where representatives of Abacus and IQ-EQ were able to engage with attendees in an open and transparent manner on a wide range of issues.

IQ-EQ are a new name to the Belfast employer marketplace, but a little investigation will show that IQ-EQ are a major global financial services business.  The corporate website states “We help global investors focus on investing and preserving capital in a sustainable and compliant manner.”  Pretty concise, but what does that mean on a local level?

Ruth Hennessey, HR Business Partner based in Belfast says, ‘Our Belfast team is made up of a number of dedicated teams that service our client needs across the global.  A major part of our local team is focused upon client service accounting, we have nearly one hundred trainees, part-qualified and post-qualified accountants in that area’.

Indeed, the planned growth in this particular area was a driving factor behind hosting the open evening.

Ruth went on to say ‘Many people are not familiar with IQ-EQ yet.  We have some work to do in terms of brand recognition and association locally, so getting a number of our team out of the office and available to engage with potential future staff was just what we needed’.

So how did the evening roll out?

Amy Fraser Recruitment Consultant at Abacus Careers commented, ‘We were so happy with how the evening went, a number of recent finance graduates, part-qualified and qualified accountants came along to meet the IQ-EQ team.  The relaxed setting meant that those in attendance were able to talk freely with Managers and recent joiners to .’

One of the part-qualified accountant in attendance said, ‘What a really useful event, it was really great to be able to speak with the IQ-EQ team in a more relaxed atmosphere.  It really helped me understand what they do here in Belfast and I got a very positive feeling on their culture.  They seem to be really busy and keen to grow.  I am now going forward to meet them formally for a role in Client Services.’

If you are an accountancy professional, either with experience in financial services or you have a desire to work in financial services, IQ-EQ are a business to keep a close eye on.
