Top Video Interview Tools

18 March 2020 by Justin Rush

Video interviews are becoming more and more popular as the number of companies working remotely due to COVID-19 increases.

There are many options when it comes to which platform to use. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp, Facetime, Slack and many more. These platforms make remote interviewing easier than ever, but which one works best for your company?

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a group chat application & collaboration tool. You can interview anyone, anywhere, as the browser version of Teams is free! Your ‘Interviewees’ don’t have to download any apps, pay to use or create an account to join the call. There’s also a very handy option to ‘screen share’, perfect if there is a presentation required as part of your interview process.

Zoom

Zoom is a popular video conferencing and webinar tool which is free to use for up to 100 people! You can host online meetings and send an easy invite to your candidate. All that’s required to access Zoom is brief account information and then you’re good to go, no download required! This platform also gives users the opportunity to screen share, perfect for presenting and reporting.

Skype

Skype is a huge player in the video-interviewing-sphere, probably the first that springs to mind. However in order to use Skype users must download an app and create an account, something to consider when choosing a tool to send candidates. You can also offer screen share and file uploads whilst on a Skype interview if required.

Go to Meeting

Go to Meeting is an online meeting, desktop sharing, and video conferencing software package that allows the users to interview candidates online. You need to pay to play with this one, however they do offer a 14 day free trail for new users. The platform offers lots of features such as screenshare, screen draw, meeting transcriptions and more.

Whatsapp Video Call

Whatsapp Video Call is a bit more casual, but easy to use if you’re on the go, with little to set up or commit to – it’s free. If you find a good place to prop your phone up, hosting an interview on Whatsapp could also be an option. At the moment you cannot officially download video call for Whatsapp on a desktop.
