As the successful candidate, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of server hardware and networking equipment throughout the company’s estate, including virtual environments hosted in VMWare/Hyper-V and SAN storage. You will also be responsible for maintaining server software (Windows/Linux), Exchange/Office365 infrastructure, and Windows-based domain services. What you’ll do:
- Geek out with state-of-the-art servers and networking equipment throughout the entire company estate.
- Be the virtualization wizard behind the curtain, managing virtual environments hosted in VMWare/Hyper-V and SAN storage.
- Be the server software superhero, donning your cape to patch, secure, script, automate, and harden servers (Windows/Linux) and wrangle with IIS.
- Smoothly sail the seas of Exchange / Office365 infrastructure, ensuring system efficiency and solving troubleshooting challenges.
- Master the Windows-based domain services, including DNS, DHCP, AD, and GPO maintenance.
- Provide 1st-2nd line operational support and save the day when infrastructure service issues arise.
- Liaise with staff, customers, and 3rd party suppliers on all aspects of the server farms and LAN/WAN environments as needed.
- Prioritize your workload like a pro, while collaborating with the Infrastructure Manager to identify technical solutions for both incidents and projects.
What you need:
- Proficiency in SAN technology (HP/EqualLogic/Compellent) and VMWare (vSphere, vCenter 5.x) virtual appliances, so you can work your tech magic.
- Ability to travel between UK sites and be the IT superhero the business needs on a day-to-day basis. (A valid UK driving licence is essential.)
- Experience with Windows Server domains and Domain Controllers (Microsoft Active Directory) and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 or up.
- Master the art of Windows server installation, usage, configuration, and maintenance.
- Be the network ninja you are with TCP/IP networking and LAN technologies, including IP address configuration and troubleshooting.
- Create helpful support documentation and help build up the IT infrastructure.
- Be a firewall tech guru, familiar with their management platforms.
- Working towards CCNA/CCNP certification to take your skills to the next level.
- Excellent server/network troubleshooting skills to solve problems and save the day.
