The REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation) is the recognised Trading Association for the UK recruitment industry. Membership is voluntary but not guaranteed. Members of the REC must complete a compliance assessment every two years to re-confirm their commitment to standards, systems, and best practice.
Abacus has been a member of the REC since 2006 and since then has been an active supporter of many initiatives that have promoted diversity, inclusion, employee rights, and government support for industry.
For Abacus, working to the highest standards is important for our staff, the candidates we represent and the clients whom we support. We adhere to the REC principles of respect for:
- Laws
- Honesty & Transparency
- Work Relationships
- Diversity
- Safety
- Professional Knowledge
- Certainty of Engagement
- Prompt and Accurate Payment
- Ethical International Recruitment
- Confidentiality and Privacy
On 14th June 2023, Abacus Director, Stuart John, and Abacus Senior Consultant, Hannah Bishop, undertook the REC on-line compliance assessment. They correctly answered questions on 12 specific areas, from contracts to data protection, from health and safety to equality and diversity. Achieving a score of 98%, Abacus has obtained one of the highest scores in this test in recent years.
The knowledge and expertise of our senior team has shone through. No one really likes being tested, but we do like it when we are tested and perform so well!
